Bhim Singh elected unopposed for
Bar Association of Supreme Court of India
             Prof.Bhim Singh, Sr. Advocate  in the Supreme Court of India was declared elected unopposed for the post of Sr. Executive Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA). Prof.Bhim Singh stands elected third time as Sr. Executive Member of the SCBA. The election to the Bar Association of the Supreme Court shall be held 14th December, 2016 for the year 2016-17.
            Prof.Bhim Singh was elected twice as Advocate for the Bar Association between 1985 and 2000. He was elected twice as a Sr. Advocate for the Supreme Court Bar Association as a Sr. Executive Member in 2013 and 2014. He was proposed by Mr. R.K. Gupta, Mr. S.K. Bandopadhyay and Mr. Dinesh Kumar Garg for the Sr. Membership.
            Prof.Bhim Singh was given a warm welcome by several friends of the Supreme Court when Prof.Bhim Singh visited the Headquarters of Supreme Court Bar Association this afternoon.
            Prof.Bhim Singh congratulated the lawyers’ fraternity for their most loveable greetings and assured that he shall do whatever is possible to enhance the prestige and credibility of the noble profession of the lawyers’ fraternity. He thanked all for their good wishes and wonderful cooperation for his success.
            The spokesman for the State Legal Aid Committee headed Prof.Bhim Singh congratulated all responsible for his election. He said that Prof.Bhim Singh born in a village of Jammu Pradesh, educated at AMU, London University as well as in Cairo University, travelled around the world on motorcycle from 1967-73 thus becoming the first person in the world to cross Sahara Desert on motorcycle in 20 days. He said that Prof.Bhim Singh is the only living exemplary political activist who spent more eight years in political prisons during his student days. He travelled around the world for six years. The Supreme Court of India in its landmark judgment (1985 Vol. 4–Page 677) added a new legal history in the Chapter of Human Rights saying, The Supreme Court of India (Apex Court) in its unique judgment directed Govt. of J&K to pay a compensation of Rs.50,000/- to Prof. Bhim Singh for his wrongful and illegal detention by preventing him to attend Assembly Session in 1985. It gave a new dimension in the Law of Torts in India”.
            Prof.Bhim Singh has his many publications on his travels and legal aid movement. His famous documentary video films are a great source of information which include After Effects of War (GULF), Seeds of War, Arab World Today-I, Salaam from Tehran, Roads to Peace (Based on interview with Dr. Boutros Boutros Ghali, UN Secretary-General), The Star of Bethlehem (on Christmas), Peace Prospects in West Asia, “Jerusalem”, Return of Doda Migrants, Dangers to Peace, Babri Masjid. Most of his films were commissioned by the DD on Palestine, Iraq and the Arab World. Prof.Bhim Singh’s noted publications also add to the introduction of new Sr. Executive Member.
His book, ‘Peace Mission, Around the World on Motorcycle’ was released by Shri Arjun Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister for HRD in January 8, 2008. His publications are, ‘Flames in Kashmir’ (English), Sulgata Kashmir (Hindi), Sada-e-Jammu and Kashmir (Urdu), Kashmir, A Mirage, ‘Murder of Democracy’ in Jammu and Kashmir(English) NATO Aggression Against Yugoslavia, ‘The Judgment” (English), ‘Autonomy or Secession’ in Kashmir (English). ‘Iraq–A Heroic Resistance’ (English), ‘Chetna Yatra, Kargil Se Kanyakumari’ (Hindi), Blunders & Way Out in J&K (English) and his latest book, ‘Unbelievable–Delhi to Islamabad’ (English) which was released by Vice President, Mohd. Hamid Ansari in May, 2015.
